Jeremy thank you for you’re endless effort to this blog... we all know I love barkov but I wouldn’t want us to move anything for him and nab him if he hits free agency wouldn’t mind duclair either..

Man, that made my day. Thanks! You guys put a ton of effort into keeping these things going, and I’m blessed to be able to do this. Barkov, that would be something special. Agreed on Duclair. He’s probably going to have to do a “prove it” deal again (1 or 2 yr). We’ll see how it goes!

The whole situation with duclair really throws me off and my only fear with him and maybe there is a ego problem.. so a shorter term deal does make some sense.. but financials are so bad around the league I think we’re gonna see a lot of one year deals again. Imagine we sign nug from edm on a one year 8m deal and flip him at the deadline for a 1st all hypothetical but we do have the cap space to swindle this year.. I love speculating with you guys because I feel we list every possible scenario and Stevie still pulls something off we never seen coming lol! This rebuild got exciting this year especially when you take in the circumstances this team went through.

maybe they can pass Bob on to the Pens or Edmonton, but they would have to retain $$$$$. then they sign Dreidger to tandem with Knight (EX-draft exemt) and expose Mountabaum.....
They need to get rid of Yandle....but he is a liability now and FLA would have to add a lot of sugar and still retain salary! I don't see how that would be in the Yser-plan.
Horqvist would be a good add, but a contender could use his play more....St Louis would love this guy.
There are a lot of younger guys that stepped up their play, but FLA would be foolish to sell any of them.
I would be OK with Montour, but not overly excited about him and would hope his term was only 2 yrs.
Could take on Stralman (retain $1M) if they included Forsling or Lomberg in the deal for a 7th, and then move him on by retaining half salary for a 7th.....

Regular season successes didn’t translate as last year’s cup champions rolled out a lineup that was boosted by the miraculous recoveries of Kucherov and Stamkos. Both had injuries that kept them out just long enough for the salary cap to be lifted. Had they returned any earlier, Tampa would have been over the salary cap and penalized by the league. It’s a strange coincidence, to be sure. The league had threatened an investigation if this type of cap circumvention was being utilized, but it looks as though the NHL forgot to check into it. Small favors.

Sean Monahan is on the market. Anyone want a 26 year old 6’2” center?

He has a hip issue, I'd give up Cholo or Svetch and a 4th for him.

He was playing through injury most of the year and having surgery. I’d do a 1 for 1. Bertuzzi for Monahan. Really like Bert but center is more important.

Ok, that’s a decent drop in. I’ll update trade predictions with that and H2s. Thanks for that.

Per PHR:
Monahan has two years left on his contract with a $6.375MM AAV with a 10-team no-trade clause, per CapFriendly. That price tag looked like a bargain two years ago but that isn’t the case now based on his recent performance.

If he waived his NTC and Calgary agreed to retain ~$1.5, or we take the whole amount AND a 1st, I'm definitely in on this!!!

Gentlemen I’m still chasing Florida’s Vladislav Kolyachonok (say that 3 times) also Pittsburgh is knee deep in Defenseman payroll, with 11 in the minors/Prospects.
I’m also willing if possible to trade that 1st rounder for Werenski.
If we jump ahead to Montreal i would see if Arsen Khisamutdinov is available, he’s a good move for the Griffin’s with development maybe young 3rd line center. Good physical presence.

Would Calgary want something of a similar positional player? I dunno, but if they'd take Cholo, AND retain....Katie bar the door, I'm in!!!

OK, soooo.......The verbal salad is killing me!!!! I'd need to dig into the PIT sit (see what I did there?!?!?!) regarding developing LD, but I would think they'd only off-load those players whoa re not developing as PIT leadership would want, and/or one of the NHL guys who suck the life out of payroll.....could be a smart move to offer, but.....

I'm not saying right off hand, BUT..... If I trade Bert, you better bet the ask is going to be VERY high. Monahan PLUS a stud D prospect/C/G AND retain on Monahan....and that's just the opening bid........

Larkin had a sucky year. Would you trade him away with a 1st while also retaining?

Monahan would give this team a legit 1-2 punch at center for the first time since the Datsyuk Zetterberg days.

You’re severely overrating Bertuzzi. He’s a 50 point top 6 complementary winger coming off back surgery.
